While attending elementary school in St. Louis, Kida picked up the trumpet. The love affair with music had begun. Kida bounced back and forth ,between the two cities until he decided to stay in Inglewood.
Kida continued his love affair with music, becoming the drum major of the school band. Honing the skills of his trumpet, Kida later acquired the skills of a drum player. This is when he picked up the microphone and started rhyming. After graduating high school, music went on the backburner and he attended college and pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc..
Kida had aspirations of becoming a chiropractor, but music was calling. He began to work on his rap aspirations, and then school took the back seat. Kida was noticed for his rapping skills and was asked to be an opening act for DJ Quik and Snoop Dogg. At that moment Kida knew his calling was music.
He would later work with Shaquille O’Neal on his Respect album. Kida went on to become a street promoter for Roc-A-Fella Records ,a position that was offered to him by the labels own CEO, Dame Dash. He later was recognized for his talent when Death Row records President Suge Knight personally offered Kida a recording contract. After much consideration Kida respectfully declined and continued to work on his craft.
In 2005 Kida formed a band called The Next Episode, which performs live instrumentation of Kida’s music. Kida has since had the opportunity to work closely with former Aftermath producer Focus…CEO of a.Fam Entertainment. Kida is currently considering recording deals with various labels. While steadily performing, he has opened for the likes of Slick Rick and r&b singer Dwele.
Kida is ready to headline the industry with his blend of live music and gritty street lyrics. All while staying away from the repetitive subjects of drugs and guns, the very things that have helped destroy the lives of his family. Read more on Last.fm.
