Keith Rides Bikes

Keith started playing guitar a long time ago, inspired by watching his dad play. His dad is a very music-intelligent person, even when it comes to naming his son after Keith Richards. When Keith first started picking and strumming, he played random things such as "the twilight zone theme" like most people do when they begin. His familiarity with folk-related styles may have stemmed from learning on an old, used classical guitar, which was of no inconvenience to him. Read more on Last.fm
Keith knew a kid named Brandon.

They had been, in some ways, rivals since 5th grade. It was in Keith's 7th grade year that the oppositions seemingly disappeared. The two of them realized they had very similar tastes and began jamming together. A endless assortment of covers came from this.

Days passed. The alteration to electric guitars here and there also helped the two of them find their styles. Keith's place of residence is erratic. Having lived with cousins, aunts, uncles, or his dad, in apartments, duplexes, and other low income household situations. But through the change, music was permanent.

Change followed Keith all the way up to his drastic and renowned move from Dallas to Salem. It may not seem like such a distance, but leaving behind everything known to him was difficult. Within the process of moving, Keith wrote a few songs. Notably "Dark Blue" and "No Name". In a June 2005 visit to Bend with Ryan (Brandon's brother) to visit Ryan's dad, Keith and Ryan created a side project known as 'Siren Explosion'.

The experimental project brought forward a number of songs similar to The Books "Thought For Food". This ultimately led to another project entitled 'Keith & Ryan', which wrapped up in July 2005. The songs consisted mostly of promising low-fi recordings from the two of them. Ryan moved to Bend to live with his dad. Keith, set the guitar down. He was still living in Salem and Brandon was still living in Dallas.

They talked almost everyday on the phone. Coming to terms with many personal issues, regrets, and observations, Keith picked the guitar back up. With a fresh amount of things to write about, he began playing incessantly. It was new, a side of Keith no one had heard before.

Brandon helped Keith with recording. Once Keith was familiar with the recording process, he was a true solo artist. Writing songs such as "Let's Forget The Future", "Una Fiebre Palida", and "March You Clones!", he was onto something. Now, Keith is still going under the tagged inside-joke name of Keith Rides Bikes. It consists of Keith on guitar and vocals, and Brandon on backup guitar and vocals occasionally.

Delicate, whisper-like, spine tingling, and intense vocals, and melodic, yet assertive guitar. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
