Katie Goes to Tokyo (alias Kathrine Bergström) was born in the swedish city Skellefteå. Together with some friends she started the band Backfish and in 1997 they released their first album, "It's Emilys", produced by Ken Stringfellow from The Posies. After one EP, 3 singles and some inter europe touring they decided to put the band to rest and move on. Instead of leaving the music biz Kathrine teamed up with Mårten Tromm, writing songs to be recorded and released by fall 2002. They called themselves "The Wilson Hospital" and the album got named "Medication for a lost generation".

It was released in both Sweden and Japan and the song "Call med a.s.a.p" got quite much air time on swedish radio. Unfortunately the distributor went bankrupt resultning in only a few cd:s ever ended up in the stores. Kathrine and Mårten started writing new material and recorded a new album in January 2004 together musicians Erik Jansson and Anders Lennartsson. They decided the music wasn't really fit for The Wilson Hospital and as of such they decided it was time for Katie to take the solo step, forming "Katie goes to Tokyo". "Katie Goes to Tokyo" has got a website where you can listen to some tracks! http://www.katiegoestotokyo.com Read more on Last.fm.
