The release made folk single of the week here at Piccadilly records and sold out rapidly. With her new release Kathryn wanted to bring it back to basics, having worked in recording studios since she was 17 she wanted to try a looser way of recording. Ben McGarvey recorded his album "Too Busy Framing" which he recorded in his bedroom and he offered to record Kathryn: '...my new single "Play A Game" allowed me to experiment with found sounds which was always difficult to do in a studio environment, I brought my typewriter from work and used it in the recording. There was a lot of trial and error working this way but that's what made it so much fun...' The first track on the single features vocals/ukulele courtesy of Christopher Butler from Butler-Williams and Cello from Sinead Fletcher who have recently started to work with Kathryn. Kathryns ep 'play a game' was featured on guy garveys finest hour and has also been promoted by clint boon and bbc radio manchester. Kathryn and Sinead just finished working on an 'Inspiral Carpets' track 'This is how it feels to be lonely' with Clint Boon for a play called 'Angels with Manky Faces'.
