The band's musical philosophy is reflected in the meaning of its name:Karneval is the Serbian and German word for carnival, a word which dates to medieval times and probably derives from the Latin carnem levare or the Italian carnelevare (removal of flesh) whereas the word “flesh” is used in both its alimentary and erotic senses. Celebrated widely across Europe in the early modern period during the days preceding Lent, Carnival perpetuated the pre-Christian rites of farmers and herders, marking the renewal of life in springtime (Columbia Encyclopedia). Karneval’s music is a celebration of life, an emotionally intense and melancholic electro baroque pop tunes that burrows deep under the skin, with its daydream-like atmosphere reawakening feelings from childhood: innocent and pure emotions, losses, burning desires and the timeless lust for love. Karneval’s musical template draws from a variety of styles: dream pop, post rock, as well as electronic, baroque and contemporary classical music.

The eclecticism of those musical influences led them to create unique and unconventional pop music with lush, swirling arrangements drenched in echo, reverb, and other effects that often approaches ambient music. Strongly influenced by the structures of baroque music, especially the fugue, the band developed the idea of the polyphonic baroque arrangements and one of the best composers of contemporary minimalist music in Serbia,Miroslav Savic, became interested in taking part in the project. Now, they are working together delivering to all of you who are lonely love and dreams of a better world. Read more on Last.fm.
