He produced and released 20 singles through Assassin Records all under different aliases. Ill Flava Records became a reality for Karl in 2000 when he released his debut single “Don Gramma”. This single earned Karl UK Hip Hop award nominations for Best Newcomer and Best Single in 2001, and won him the award for Best Video that year. Like all great producers Karl has created a sound that is unique and challenges the conventional sound of UK Hip Hop. Released in 2002 Karl’s first LP “Hindsight” solidified his position in Hip Hop as one of the greatest lyricist and producers of all time.
Hinds demonstrated his ability to write conceptually with such critically acclaimed tracks as “Rasharn”, “31/09 One day on my life” and “Take it back” featuring Estelle. This album is now considered a classic with its lead single “Don Gramma” officially named as one of the greatest Hip Hop singles form Britain of all time. After touring the UK for 2 years Karl toured Europe in 2003 with German Producer DJ Dynamite and gained international recognition. In 2004 Hinds released his second album “Have Patience”. With out doubt this was the Concept album of that year and showed Karl Hinds’ ability to produce lyrical gems at will.
The album provided Karl with another club banger “Lets Av It” featuring Skinny Man. With two self produced classic albums behind him Karl Hinds is a critically acclaimed award winning artist who is considered to be one of the best to ever bless a British mic, yet this is only the beginning. 2008 will see Karl Hinds release that long awaited third LP.
