The daughter of producer Norbert Endlich, she was born with showmanship in her blood and over the years she has honed it into a fine art, becoming one of Germany's major show business stars. Ella Endlich at a Berlin recording studio in November of 2011 She signed her first recording contract at the age of 14, and as the teen star, Junia, she recorded four singles. The first of these, 'It's Funny', was the most successful and reached number 17 in the German charts. After finishing high school, Jacqueline began honing her craft, studying music, drama, theatre and dance at the Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich. Taking the name Ella Endlich for a new adult performing career, she released the single Küss Mich, Halt Mich, Lieb Mich in 2009. The pretty song is in the form of lyrics set to the music composed by Charles Svoboda for the Czech fairytale film, Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel (Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella). The film is traditionally shown at Christmas in Germany and I recall an English-dubbed version having been shown in the UK, as well. The popularity of the film led to success on the pop charts as well, for Ella Endlich, as it peaked at #12 in Germany.
It remains a perennial favorite, and at the time of this writing, her video performance of it has garnered an astonishing 4.1 million plays on YouTube. It earned her a gold record (Goldene Schallplatte) and a 'SMAGO' award (from a German schlager magazine). Talking about this mix and how it represents him as an artist, Junia says “This is a live recording in a club so is the real thing as far as experiencing what I do in a set, I am all about texture and contrast while DJing, I don’t like to lose intensity with the music. I’m definitely not a simple one track after the other type of DJ and this mix demonstrates that. We’ve got old & new music but I put it together in my style with edits and incorporate live remixing along the way but using the music as it was made, none of this push button pads stuff that does it for you now, I’m old school like that – it’s like turntablism just with house music, I like to call it “audiolism”. When asked to describe the house gangster sound and what the House Gangster movement means to him, he replied; “Musically it’s a “Come test us” attitude, show us what you’ve got! Mixing them is the easy part but choosing the right tracks to compliment each other in the mix and create energy that could not be sparked otherwise is the thrill for me. There isn’t enough DJ’s that do this - you have to spark something in the music you’re playing that the crowd couldn’t feel just by listening to the originals at home or by twisting the effects knob on the mixer, Guys should be having to come over and peer through into the booth just to see what it is that’s goin on when a DJ spins, not just mundane mixing outro into intro!” Read more on Last.fm.
