Jose Carretas joined the restless soul team in 2006 alongside Luke McCarty, Aaron Ross, Taxi Driver, Felix Hopkins, Modaji and Phil Asher himself. He had been spinning records in and out of the UK for the past 15 years, D.Jing "Space" at the Cross and Pacha, Soul Heaven at Ministry of Sound and a Mn2s night. In this time he has had the pleasure of djing alongside many of the great house D.J.s including Kenny Carpenter, Bert Bevans, Phil Asher ,C.J. Macintosh to name a few.

At the beginning of the millenium Jose was distributing music for Goya music, Greyhound Records and Honest jons and gaining great knowledge in all types of music which has come to reflect in his music. In the past few years Jose has had the pleasure of remixing and produced tracks for the likes of Quentin harris, Fini Dolo, Steal Vybe, Vanessa Freeman, Marcus Begg, Lem Springstein and Anto Vitale. 2008 was a turning point for Jose when he began D.Jing for Damon Albarns "Gorillaz sound system" which then toured the world and performing to crowds of up to 35.000 in Slovenia, Creamfields in south America, Global gathering in Australia, London's Don Perignon party's , Canne film festival and the MTV awards. Back to the UK and back in the studio with new tracks set to be released, this looked to be Jose's year. His debut release in 2007 was on 'That Beats Soul' on Spacekat records , as well as providing remixes on 'My Soul Cries Out' (Styles Vibes feat. Charles Dockins) and 'Travelling' (Quentin Harris feat. Cordell McClary).

He then released “Cutting Me Up” featuring Marcus Begg on Jus’ House and “Can’t Make It” on MN2S featuring Vanessa Freeman which received support from DJs across both sides of the soulful house pond including Danny Krivit, Ian Friday, Phil Asher, and Aaron Ross to name a few. In 2009 he produced many of his own tracks and remixes, working on labels as such Restless soul, Soul Heaven, Sophisticado & Son Liva. In may 2009 ‘Taking A Little Piece of Me’ featuring Dani was released on Tribe Records, which was heavily supported at that year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami. Heavy beats and production joined by the irresistible vocal talent of Dani, who also featured on ‘Never Let Me Down’ released on Especial Records (japan) creating a soulful house anthem perfect for summer. 2009 was a busy year for Jose, remixes for Bopstar's "Desire"released on Soul heaven , a sensual summer track featuring the lush vocals off Zara McFarlane. Two months later, his first release on his very own Son Liva Music , 'Memories' with vocals by Nina Miranda from Zeep, a great track which was also featured on Giles Peterson's "Brazilika" compilation. He was then called on by Anto Vitale for a remix of 'Out Of This World' released on Seasons Limited and vocals written and performed by Tamara Wellons.

In november his second release on Son Liva, 'Delicious' produced and arranged by Jose Carretas with a vocal performance by Marcus Begg, Kaidi Tatham once again on keys. Then remixing Dominic Jacobson's "Do it the same" featuring Phillipa Alexander on vocals and released on Restless Soul. In december Jose, rising fast in his musical excellence, produces a quality mix off the classic "It's the Spirit" by Dj Romain & Darryl D Bonneau. Then on Vick Lavender's, Sophisticado label with a mix of 'Another Girl'. He then starts 2010 producing mixes for Seasons Recordings, a remix off 'Deep Batida' by Anto Vitale , and also on the Restless Soul classic 'And I Know It' featuring Zansika, which was originally produced by Phil Asher.
