(born March 31, 1977) is an American Avant hop artist who has taken on several aliasess in his career - originally Jonny-No!, most famously Jonny-No!, and in side projects such as Mr. No, Estep, Jonny-Yes!, and collaboration projects such as Mixerpixel and Yo|oYo|oYo|oYo|oYo|oYo::iii. He remains one of the most popular and critically acclaimed amatuer Avant hop un-artists today. [edit] History [edit] Early years and starscream-ecoli-777 Estes,, the son of a Preacher-Man father and whose mother was an Undiscovered Poetic Genius, was born in Dallas, Texas, then moved with his family to Ohio and was raised in the white trash alley-ridden havens of the feared "Whistlings" of urban Columbus, reputed to have been named only after a reporter noted how many times bullets whistled past his ear while on assignment investigating the end of innocence. As Jonny, he formed the group Starscream with then Roomates and friends Matt Chad and Justin Crooks Eventually nobody heard of them, so no record company picked them up and they did not benefit from the grunge movement despite being years ahead of the curve. After several other false starts, Estes gave up on music altogether and turned to a life filled with substance abuse and nomadicism. With the loss of his cat Happy, Estes retreated from the nomadic / crustpunk scene from 1998-2001.

He testifies to disillusionment and depression, living "employed, driving comfortably on the streets of Seattle, looking forward to the weekends". In late 2000, he left Seattle and settled in Yellow Springs, Ohio where he made an effort to become buried in the tomes of academia at Antioch College. Sadly, this effort although well-regarded ultimately proved futile. According to interviews, he was barely a month "dope-free" and was having trouble "coping with the rearrangement" of reality that was occurring as he re-adjusted to live free from daily heroin use. A rapid series of failed relationships and lingering self-hatred eventually led him to flee college for New York City in a fit of mid-winter existential crisis, reportedly seeking the familiar embrace of heroin with all it's possibilities for accedental overdose. [edit] No Mainstream or Other recognition Jonny-No! is widely regarded as being one of the formost spokespersons for the burgeoning "amatuer savant-garde" movement, reputed to be gaining popularity among psuedo-feral and quasi-domesticated feline populations often sighted at the BP down the street [edit] Current and upcoming projects * The Adventures of Shoppy-Shoppy Summer 2007 * Lamentations Fall 2007 * That's Hott Winter 2007 * Spastims Spring 2008 [edit] Style Musically, Jonny-No! rarely includes lyrics, but when included they are often perceived as eccentric.

With an abundant use of polysyllabic samples and childish tonal metaphors, Jonny-No! combines Perl syntax with Python and Ruby phrasing to create a source flow that is both digitizing and magnetic. His songs commonly lack the typical verse/chorus structure in favor of showcasing extended mise-en-schemes and strophic dissonance punctuated by hypertonal symphonic variations. Samples from old propaganda movies (particularly Prelinger Archive shows in which subjects are often the working class oppressed by their arch-enemy, Their Elected Officials) frequently find their way into Jonny-No's productions. Even before his work on the AIMAC-influenced Distributed Documedia project, his work alluded to propagandistic movies and TV shows, often including many Commercials and covering most Hollywood films. Unlike many artists' first-person point of reference, Jonny-No! refers to himself in the third person to better convey his own semi-fictional persona. No! himself is a caricature, a masked incarnation of the identity-in-space that his lyrics describe, which combines with personal traits and experiences to create an endlessly fascinating topic for his own expressive indulgence. [edit] Personal life Little is known about Estes' personal life, although he did reveal details in a 2007 interview that was published on his Facebook page.

He stated that he is excruciatingly lonely, wants to be a cat, is terrified of most people & social venues, would rather be online, and hates himself. [edit] Fashion and Persona Similar to his name, Jonny-No!s fashion is based on the Counter-Propagandistic Thrust of Popular Urban Kino-Syncronized Camo. However, it is not to be confused with activities related to the behavior of Freelance Syncroneous Agent Provetuers's (SAPpers), which Estes is, incidentally. Originally, Jonny-No sported pajama bottoms underneath generic basketball shorts in a manner similar popular fashion of the time, however his current ensamble, designed by Carhart and Good-Will is styled to resemble the nether regions of meaning remaining unexperienced in a spectacle dependent cultural ecology. Estes makes one apperance in an early version of the video Dancespace I-II-III, an underground documentary surrounding the famous folk-o-matic culture of No-Fear Dance that formed around the popular Antioch College 'Dancespace' circa 1990-today. Jonny-No! has also given a number of alternative meanings for the unorthodox 'uniform' he seems to wear without fail, including the preservation of functions and mechanism related to corporate resistance and personal anonymity in the increasingly data-driven genre of M(ART)keting in critical spheres of discourse.
