In the middle of the decade of the sixties, the result of his interest in traditional culture, he began to devote himself entirely to the study and dissemination of the same, offering concerts and lectures in almost all Spanish universities and many others in Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands and the United States. In 1976 he left the performance in public to engage fully in the investigation of popular culture, especially the Community of Castilla y Leon in Spain. Joaquín Díaz has recorded seventy albums and also directed and produced many artists and many groups of traditional spanish music. He has published more than fifty books on various aspects of oral tradition: romances and songs, stories, folk expressions, etc.. And over two hundred articles and essays in specialized publications and outreach.
