Jinxed at twelve
From producing, recording, financing, and engineering their own releases to setting up, promoting, and booking their own shows, such as organizing benefits for regional charities, Jinxed at Twelve achieved its success by doing things for themselves and their community and in the majority of that time, they were finishing high school. The end result is over 200 shows, two East Coast tours, a slew of self-released EPs and one full length, and a growing fan base that has led to headlining shows in their hometown and the District. By 2005, the band had perfected their live show. Regardless of whether the venue consisted of a sold-out crowd or five people, the band played and delivered an intense, vivid performance, confident and understanding of each others ability. The fierce drumming of Andrew Kranstover is undeniably good, nailing each intricate drum fill and crash with precision and passion, with each drum beat critical to the framework of the bands arrangements.
Guitarists, Tim Bean and Adam Wheeler, complement each other beautifully, trading off melodies while remaining musically controlled a sharp contrast to their antics, tossing themselves around just as hard as the kids watching. Vocalist and bassist, Binh Ngo, finishes the mix by controlling the low end rhythm section, his howling vocals piercing through the bath of warm overdrive and thundering percussion like a sun ray through a cloudy day. With their outstanding performances, Jinxed at Twelve gained the attention of Magic Bullet Records founder, Brent Eyestone, leading to the upcoming release of their new record on his label. Spending the next six months holed up in various locations within the District area, recording, engineering, and mixing with producer, So Uehara, the bands exhausted schedule led to their newest and finest work to date, entitled Aiming for a Better Tomorrow" a seven-song depiction of growing up and confronting love, loss, ignorance, confusion, redemption, and hope. Slated for a summer 2006 release, the band will be touring the entire US through the summer and fall in support of it.
