Jimmy Ward

Jimmy Ward first picked up a guitar at the age of 10 and began taking lessons from his father Bill Ward. Jimmy played mainly Bluegrass flat-picking for the first few years of his musical life, learning the styles of guitar players like Tony Rice and Dan Crary. Jimmy also picked up the banjo and mandolin to round out his bluegrass instrumentation. Then, for better or worse, Jimmy picked up an electric guitar at the age of 15 and proceeded to sit in his room for hours learning the guitar parts to every rock and alternative album he owned. There were many hours spent with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Live, Our Lady Peace, and many others. Jimmy’s love for loud music led him to play guitar for a couple of bands over the years. From 2004-2007 Jimmy played guitar in the band Thin December recording a full length record with the band in 2006. Jimmy first started playing music at Warehouse Christian Ministries when he was in the high school group. He continued playing worship music in the college group and eventually began leading worship for a Sunday night service, a service that allowed Jimmy’s love for rock dynamics and worship to come together.

At that point, it became clear that worship leading was a calling on Jimmy’s life that would eventually lead him to where he is today. Shortly after becoming the music director at Warehouse, Jimmy began working on his debut worship album “Home.” “Home” is a collection of worship songs that Jimmy introduced to the congregation, some old, some new, all arranged and recorded with passion and lots of guitars. “Home” will be released on September 19, 2010.
