Jessica Something Jewish

Early in 2003 James Glines slowly made his way onto the Salt Lake City music scene by way of open-mics and lightly attended bar shows. After a year or so of mediocre guitar and vocal emotional ballads, people started taking notice. Although his music was gaining speed, he still longed for something else. Always driven by the synth infused sound of bands such as Depeche Mode, The Faint, The Human League, and Ladytron, Glines decided it was time to take his sound in a different direction.

Jessica Something Jewish formed in early 2004 as an escape from a lackluster music style. The purpose was to create a new sound, which everyone could appreciate in some way. Some of it is made for dancing, some is made for swaying. The message is unclear, but is slowly revealed through the vague metaphors ever present in the lyrics.

Never tying himself to one subject, Glines, finds a way to tell the difference between the most important subjects to the most obscure and inconsequential things imaginable. With fans spanning the globe, he is already being recognized for his high energy shows. With around 60 shows and an overseas tour under his belt, he is determined to continue the electronic wave he has started. Glines has shared the stage with international touring acts such as Tegan and Sara, Ash, Rocky Votolato, Viva Voce, The Ditty Bops, The Kohl Heart (formerly XOXOXO), Alaska!, The 89’ Cubs, Shiny Toy Guns, VCR, The Bravery, Mixel Pixel, Decibully, and many more. He has also contributed to a 14 minute improvisation on the Crab Smasher album "serie una di collaborazione".

He recently completed his full length album titled “Seattle Calls,” and a 22 gig tour in Australia and New Zealand. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
