ALBUMS AND RELESES: Jerihon issued their debut album New Day in late 2009 - eagerly anticipated by fans and experts who defined it as "surprisingly fresh, musically varied, diverse of moods and emotions". Another specific feature are the songs lyrics - poetical, yet sharp and provocative. The release of their album was followed by extensive positive media coverage which gave further push to the band as they went on a national club tour, including the major cities of their home country. The single Ima li Den (Is There a Day) reached first place in The National Radio chart, held over 13 weeks in the first position and entered the Bulgarian Top 100 Chart. Jerihon released their second studio album Step Through in September 2010.
Songs from the album can often be heard on Bulgarian radio shows and actively take part in the charts of various radio stations not only in Bulgaria but also abroad, mostly seizing the leading positions. Some of the songs were included in a variety of CD compilations. In late June 2011 Jerihon promoted their debut video for the single Too Much off of the Step Through album with a fun and very heartfelt concert that best suited the varicolored clip of the song. Well-known Bulgarian artists, fellow musicians and actors were among the guests of the event and took the stage to express their delight and support of the band. In December 2010, days before Christmas, Jerihon released their first concert DVD (recorded earlier in June) – the disc contains one of the most mesmerizing and lively acts in the history of the band in Centre for Culture and Debate “The Red House” in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Jerihon’s performance is sophisticated with poetic accents, which gives a hint at the major project the band is working on – a rock opera/musical that will be based on their first four albums. COMPETITIONS: In 2008 Jerihon won Uriah Heep's video cover competition with their rendition of Heep’s famous song Easy Livin'. Quote of the legendary band guitarist Mick Box: „The Winner Jerihon (Easy Livin') – overall a complete version with good harmonies. They look like they are enjoying themselves and are comfortable with their performance which is a big part of what Heep is all about! It has also got the correct drum shuffle ala our Lee”. The band won second prize at the RockOnly! contest for original music and new band held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in June 2010. In the summer of 2010 Jerihon were among the 27 global finalists in Euro Demo competition held by the social network MySpace, and their songs were included in a specially issued CD compilation. In February 2011 the band took part in The Bulgarian song for Eurovision 2011 contest with the song Smile and finished second by the jury vote after a spectacular concert in Hall 1 of National Place of Culture broadcasted live on Bulgarian National Television. The band is currently working on their third studio album while participating in festivals, television and radio shows, touring and playing live.
