Jason Wakefield writes twisted, theatrical music on an electric piano. Despite having only taught himself to play piano, he composes complex electronic/orchestral music. Blending a whole range of influences from film scores, pop, progressive, heavy and alternative rock music, Jason has brewed a dark but rich concoction of violent classical-rock music. Once adjusted to the initial shock of the sound and performance, you will discover progressive film-like song structures and bleak narrative lyrics that are either personal and emotive, or will incorporate black humour and irony. 'Mirror of a Sinner' and 'The Dangerous Influence of Art' could be compared to a Tim Burton musical, while 'Closets are for Clothes' and 'The Tragedy in Evil' could be described as emotional epics. Jason often performs live on stage with a Brechtian technique, preferring to act in the character of his songs as opposed to just playing the music, adding another element of interest to the performance that often provokes discussion.
