There are two bands with the name Jason Baker: an acoustic / folk / indie artist from Chicago, and an electronic / experimental / whatever artist from Austin: Jason From Chicago Jason is a Chicago based singer songwriter with a poetic and engaging lyrical style. His songs catchy melodies evoke the radio friendly pop of his youth, while his guitar playing and singing are influenced by his contemporary heroes like David Wilcox, Michael McDermott and Peter Mayer. After working for years in Chicago radio Jason decided to dedicate more time to his family, leaving his career to become a full time stay at home dad. Jason soon discovered that spending time at home with his two children afforded him the opportunity to also devote himself to writing and playing music more fully.

Stretching Towards the Sun marks Jason’s first recording. Produced with the help of friends; Lou Carlozo, Dave Bowling and John Vaeth. The arrangements are sparse, relying only on Jason’s vocals and guitar, except for 4 tracks, that Vaeth provides bass for. Jason From Austin Jason from Austin occasionally dabbles with music and likes to share his creations with others. He currently has five albums and EPs to share.

Fans of his music have described his electronic soundscape sound as like orbital and/or sigur ros. His acoustic pop songs (featured on "The Jerkface Chronicles") sound more like acoustic pop songs. Jason also contributes to a couple of collaborative music projects, he works with John Quarles on "The Antipatterns" music, and he works with Joe Rivera on the "Kunos Dream" project. If you would like to hear some of The Antipatterns music, there is an Antipatterns Last.Fm Profile that features several songs you can listen to and download for free. Read more on Last.fm.
