Defence is useless." (OTZ, Germany.) Janine Maunder has been quietly chipping away writing, recording and touring for a wonderfully long time! She's happily spread her work load between Australia and central Europe, in fact she still has one foot firmly planted in Berlin having been based there for several years with indie chamber-pop band 'Naked Raven'. The recent release of 'Blink', her first solo album since 1999, saw Janine touring once again, this time with a new band, across Europe in 2011. Flattering reviews followed in her wake, for not only the album but for also for her intimate and musically delicious live performances. It's that soulful, dynamic voice that continues to draw the listener in and keep them spellbound.
The new album, whilst a conscious departure from the melancholy of Naked Raven, retains that lush, soulful, melodic approach to songwriting and production. "I think the record has a healthy balance of the quirky, introspective, lush textures and space. Some of the themes are fairly deep and personal but they’re treated with a lightness and humour. (Not too much navel gazing!)".
'Blink' boasts thirteen brand new songs featuring a stellar line-up of musicians from Gotye, Amanaska, The Black Sorrows, Naked Raven and The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
