Guitarist John F Moon born in Hollywood California is the son of Trombone player Joseph Mooney. At the age of 5 or 6 he was given piano lessons by his Grandmother and pushed to play the trumpet by his father. He was given a set of drums for Christmas around 7 years of age but had no interest. His Grandmother persisted with his piano lessons although John not an average 11 year old just wanted to go to rock concerts and party with his older brother and his friends.

John excelled at the piano but was beginning to be more influenced by his older sibling to bands like Black Sabbath, Kiss ,Scorpions,UFO and more of the early "Hard Rock Heavy Metal Bands". By the age of thirteen or so he discovered the guitar from his new step sister who was an acoustical guitar player. John new what he wanted to play when he found his step sisters flying V in the closet. About the same time he was being influenced by Scorpions Guitarist Uli Jon Roth although relatively unknown at the time is now recognized as one of the early great neoclassical guitarists.

His grandmother and the piano left a mark on the new guitarist reflecting into his first two albums and defining the sound behind the Guitar which he loved so much. Unable to play the part of the "Heavy Metal Poser" John set out on his own musical journey influenced by guitar players Steve Uhler and Matt "the strat " Bowen who were also accomplished guitarists of the time. In and out of bands and never feeling a sense of accomplishment he set out to conquer things alone producing his first two albums himself. Some say Joe Satriani another instrumentalist inspired him to write music without a vocalist although this is speculative at best.

Influences of early "Space Rock" artists such as Jimi Hendrix "Third Stone from the Sun" and Beatles have been noted as well. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
