As the first release from new Melbourne hip hop label Taos, Inf's album is the culmination of 4 years of tireless work, competing in MC battles and spreading his version of hip hop throughout the underground. Dropping the digitally released ‘Conspiracy Theories’ in 2002, Inf followed up with two tracks 'Past, Present & Future' and 'Terror from Within', the later featuring on the Battletown Presents the Mixtape Vol.1 compilation. These tracks started the wheels in motion for Inf, but it was his debut EP in 2003, 'A Burning Ambition' that really made the heads sit up and take notice, garnering widespread critical acclaim. Forming Cerebral Atrophy in 2004 with MC Anecdote, the crew's collaboration track with rap legend Chino XL titled 'The Front Line', featured on 'The Nodfather Vol.1' compilation and further cemented Infallible's name in the local rap game. A student from the school of hard knocks, Infallible's debut full-length album is a deeply honest account of Inf’s often dark and tumultuous childhood moving through to his shift from teenager to becoming a man. In 'The Stratosphere LP', he raps about the hardships of youth, a time when his problems with his father were at their worst, as well as the teenage troubles and mischief that were part and parcel of his every day life. Featuring an all-star cast of turntablists, rappers and producers, the album sees Inf team up with MC Icon the Mic King (Philadelphia), Phrase, Justice (2005 O4F champ & 2005 Scribble Jam champ) & Kaos from 3rd World, Anecdote, J-Flow, local diva and Lee Sising, plus production flourishes by Lewis One, Styalz (Battletown), Weapon X, Dazastah (Downsyde) and Suffa (Hilltop Hoods). ' The Stratoshpere' is an account of not only one man's triumph over adversity, but of an adolescent's realisation that there simply must be a better way of life.
The result is a superbly crafted album of conscious storytelling hip hop, and a sign that Inf has well and truly conquered his adversaries to arrive at the Stratosphere. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
