They’ve been seen and heard in many different venues and festivals all throughout the country. inlakech consists of five talented musicians, within its center singer and songwriter Nienke Lohuis. She carries inlakech’s torch with a clear sense of purpose. The music is born out of a rare chemistry between these musicians, which is something you feel, hear and see from the very first moment you encounter them. It is these unique dynamics that will make you fall for this band over and over again. 2014 has been an important year for inlakech.
Halfway through, with inlakech, Nienke was nominated for the Theatre Festival Boulevard Entreeprijs as well as the Jacques de Leeuwprijs. Both awards are meant as a stimulus for outstanding creators in the arts. Both prices were awarded to Nienke. 2014 was also the year in which inlakech toured across the country supporting De Nieuwe Wildernis, the Dutch equivalent to BBC’s Life and Earth at a host of distinctive and interesting venues.
These are just small hints that inlakech is on its way to securing a permanent role in the Dutch music landscape, and hopefully well beyond. The adventure continues as at the Elephants EP will be the first part of a series of two EP’s, the second of which will also be released in 2015. inlakech is: Nienke Lohuis (lead vocals), Bram Doreleijers (guitar, backings), Barry Meulenbroek (drums, backings), Paul Snoeren (bas, accordeon, backings), Rutger Martens (guitar, horn and backings).
