宇宙戦隊NOIZ is a visual kei, more specifically, a cosplay band (like Psycho le Cému). The band has not directly claimed to classify themselves as such, however they do claim to have taken influence from cosplay for their image. 宇宙戦隊 NOIZ is a very hard band to classify in a single genre simply for the fact that their music covers a variety of genres. They released their first mini album as NOIZ with the title Imitation PoPs in March 1999, though their first true album サイボーグロックショウ完全盤 was released in 2003 as Imitation PoPs 宇宙戦隊NOIZ EGO-style, 宇宙戦隊NOIZ's third album, broke the top 100 on Japan's Oricon music charts shortly after release in 2005. They changed their name to 宇宙戦隊NOIZ in mid 2007. TERRA was released in September 2007, containing 8 tracks previously released as a single and 5 new recordings. As of June 2008, they reached #1 in the Oricon Indies charts. October 1st 2008 saw CUBE, their 5th full studio release and the last one featuring all 5 original band members. March 2009 saw the band's last original line-up release, being a Best Of which featured many single releases, B-sides and one new song. It was announced in April 2009 that S@TT-ON and TAKEswiy would leave the band and were going to be replaced by Kotarou (gitar) and YAMATO (drums).
