Respectfully, he encompasses the roles of a multi-media entrepreneur, enterprise executive and one of the youngest innovators and marketing Rainmakers of a lifetime. An heir of regal elegance, inheriting the next level in extraordinary talents of such legends of minds as Quincy Jones and Stevie Wonder, Ihsaan Khatim is a jewel of prodigies within the realm of Creative Magic. For Ihsaan, the arts have always been a part of who he is. He grew up with and around extraordinarily talented musicians. Being influenced and mentored by such great musicians as his mother, Audrey Rucker (Penny North), who sang on some of the same circuits as Gladys Knight and Pattie LaBelle, Richard Foye (GWMWA – Gospel Womens' Music Workshop of America), Jerry Perry, Lenny Champion, and longtime friend and writing collaborator Lafayette Carthon (The Winans & R. Kelly). At just 7-years old, Ihsaan was performing theatrically in magnet school.
In middle school, he starred in the title role of The Cleveland School of Arts first major theater production “Chicken Little”. “Chicken Little” would take him to being a guest star on “The Dorothy Fulheim Show”, dinner with Cleveland Public School Superintendent Dr. Holliday and acquiring his own mini-series on Hickory Hideout. While attending the Cleveland School of Art Ihsaan would carry a double major in Drama (Dr Leon Fisher and Norena Abarkier) and music/choral with Dr. Woods and a minor in visual arts, at the same time attending Cleveland School of Ballet. After high school and up until this present time Ihsaan continues to live art.
He has lived in New York where he joined the roster of working actors at the Schuler Talent Agency. He attended diction classes at the famous Sam Schwaat School of Speech and taking private lesson with the renowned Rita Litton. He was casted in Spike Lee’s production of “Drop Squad”, worked on the set of “Fresh” co-coordinating the blocking for the young star of the feature. He became a regular (stand up) comedian at the Uptown Comedy Club in Manhattan and performed at one of the most noted clubs in standup- Peppermints. Ihsaan left New York to learn the production and technical side of all of his experiences in the arts. He enrolled in one of the top recording and film schools in the United States – Full Sail. While attending Full Sail, Ihsaan’s talents and abilities places him amongst the “best of the best” with his graduating peers that are bringing home Grammy’s for their mixes; Phil Tan (Mariah Carey), Drew Bollman (Keith Urban) and Tom Bender (Eric Clapton), just to name a few.
He was a recipient of the Mix Magazine Technical Excellence and Creativity Scholarship Award his graduating year. While in recording school, he worked two jobs, throwing groceries early mornings and late evenings and anchoring records with DJ’s as pool director in the marketing department at Rip-It-Records (“69 Boys”), where he was fortunate enough to be a part of a team that sold over 3 million copies. Upon graduating from Full Sail Ihsaan focused his talents into the development and marketing of ground level regional artists such as Smooth Approach, Dre’ Bone, L.A. Sway and HEAT. Within a year of graduating Ihsaan would accomplish the incredible. Ihsaan orchestrated a studio spec deal, the first of its kind (with any graduate) with the professional side of the school Platinum Post, where he would produce and deliver from the main “A” room, a project that landed Ihsaan and mentor/instructor, Darren Miller (mixing engineer), names in top 20 Billboard Rap and R&B chart history in 1999. Debuting with a bullet, and staying on top of the charts for over 8 weeks.
The group “Heat” – the project “Judgment Day” - was released and distributed on Prodigy Music Group, an independent label owned and operated by Ihsaan and lifelong friend Diego “Black” Hodge (Bone-Enterprise/Bone Thugs-N-Harmony). He was presented with and accepted the opportunity to become a network distributor for ACN, a global telecommunications and utilities company. Within 1-year time, he became a team coordinator, for the company’s global expansion. He managed a team of over 300 representatives. This position placed him in the top 5% of the company’s leaders, as well as income earners. His business savvy and leadership skills, as well as marketing ability, will have some of Ohio’s top businesses seeking his help in the development of their concepts, themes, and the branding for their companies.
From real estate organizations, such as NARAB (National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers) to The International Preparatory School (also known as TIP - one of Ohio’s top charter schools). For TIP, Ihsaan developed a multimedia academy and then was requested to teach the curriculum he had developed from grades K through 12. When Colgate Palmolive needed to do a 1.5 million piece promotion on their new waterless liquid hand soap in the Midwest, they called on Ihsaan to help gather the demographics, consumer feedback and response for launching their new product. The famous Marty Conn, would find Ihsaan’s marketing and production talent undeniable, which led to a relationship where Ihsaan learned the booking end of the music industry from one of the best in the business. In return, Ihsaan would help Mr.Conn revive and transition his business into this new digital era of music and business. Today, Ihsaan continues to expand himself in music, marketing and business.
