Hraun was founded in a pre-independence day party in 2003. Originally a party band for a group of friends, the band soon found a calling to channel the emotional outlets of Frontman Svavar Knútur. Hraun has delivered a lot of high energy and emotional shows since it's formation and the band has played festivals such as I never went south and Iceland Airwaves, receiving Rave reviews. In 2007, Hraun's serene and sad song 'Ástarsaga úr fjöllunum' received high praise from the BBC world Service as the band competed in the final 5 of the contest The next big thing. Their first album was released in may 2007, titled 'I can't believe it's not happiness'. The second album, 'Silent treatment', was released in June 2008, the second step in the band's trilogy: Songs of misery and redemption.

Hraun is currently working on their third album, which will contain stories of happiness, beauty and the love of being human. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
