Head Crusher

Being a band from South America is not fucking easy. When you start playing with the shittiest equipment and the most unsupportive promoters and venues you really have to work your ass off. Being a band from South America is not fucking easy. When you start playing with the shittiest equipment and the most unsupportive promoters and venues you really have to work your ass off. Formed in the early 2001 in Pereira, Risaralda COLOMBIA, SOUTH AMERICA, HEAD CRUSHER’s blend of thrash, death metal and hardcore climbed them to the top of the growing Colombian and South American metal scene. After releasing two demos (Your Blood on my Hands 2003, and Re-Evolve 2005) supported by hundreds of shows in their home country playing with bands such as APOCALIPTICA(Finland), SUICIDAL TENDENCIES(U.S), ANIMAL (Argentina), CONFRONTO ( Brasil), MUSCARIA(Ecuador), KOYI K UTHO( Colombia), SOULEDGE ( Colombia) among others, the band called the attention of the Colombian and South American metal underground. Head Crusher self-produced its first album, “I Felt This Before” (2006) which sold out in their home country, and their videos Re-Evolve and I’ve Got Another Plan were airplayed on the most important Colombian stations and MTV Latino. HEAD CRUSHER played successful shows in support of its new release, taking part in several open air festivals in its home country.

The band played in front of over 50,000 people at Colombia’s prestigious Rock al Parque festival. The band also played in front of a crowd of about 6,000 people in Ambato, Ecuador at FFF festival. Discouraged with the state of the Colombian and South American metal music scene, the band realized that it needed to find places that were more receptive to metal and underground music. The band relocated to NEW YORK in 2007. After touring the East Coast and playing several gigs in New York City some members of HEAD CRUSHER left the band for personal and musical differences.

Then, the creative core of the band (guitarist/Karlucho and drummer Alejandro) relocated to Austin, TX in summer 2008. The band has recently finished a new recording that will be released as a self-titled EP. This time we worked with Scott Sargeant(Laz Rockit, Killing Culture, Skinlab, M.O.D, By Any Means Necessary) as a producer and engineer. The tracks were mastered by Juan Urteaga( Exodus, Testament, Machine Head) at Trident Studios in Northern California, and the artwork was designed by Alex Eckman-Lawn who has worked with a bunch of cool bands such as Architects, Syopus, Hacride. In our opinion, this is a great-sounding recording, which has all what we all missed about metal. Killer riffs, punishing drums, intense vocals and songs you can break your neck to.
