Throwing synthesizers, tight horns, a kicking rhythm section and world-class vocals into the mix, Harbour City Electric have crafted their own unique style, which can only be described as acid-funk and heavy break-beat soul. April 13th, 2009 saw the release of their self-titled first EP, with engineering by local legend Mike Gibson, mixing by Benny Tones (Electric Wire Hustle, Pacific Heights) at Newtown's Organik Muzik Workz and mastering by Dave Cooley (J Dilla, Madlib, D'Angelo) at Elysian Masters in Los Angeles. The EP features guest singer extraordinaire Lisa Tomlins (Fat Freddy’s Drop, Recloose, Rhombus) and 5 superbly crafted tracks, that will build on the band's already solid nationwide following. On September 12th, 2012, Harbour City Electric released their first full-length album, Without A Sound. Recorded in a custom built studio in an old Masonic Lodge in Island Bay, Without A Sound captures the essence of HCE's live performances and more, showcasing the diverse writing and performing talents of the band. Musically rich with funk, soul, and Motown, with some beats and psychedelics thrown in for good measure, this album is the natural musical progression from their 2009 self-titled EP.

It features the vocal talents of Louis Baker, Lisa Tomlins, Bella Kalolo, Kirsten Te Rito and Thomas Oliver, and a string arrangement by the incredible up and coming classical composer Natalie Hunt on the title track. The album was mixed at Wellington, New Zealand's iconic Surgery Studios by Lee Prebble and mastered by local legend Mike Gibson. Harbour City Electric are: Ned Worboys (vocals) Simon Koziarski (guitars) Paddy Bleakley (bass) Ed Zuccollo (keys) Shaun Elley (drums) Lex French (trumpet) Richard Shirley (trombone) Read more on Last.fm.
