Profile By winning both the first and superprize at the YPF National Piano Competition in 2001 (Amsterdam www.ypf.nl ), the Belarussian-born Dutch pianist Hanna Shybayeva proved to belong to the top of the new generation of pianotalent in The Netherlands. The jury and musical critics expressed their admiration for her musical involvement and technical control, and soon afterwards, PHILIPS-Universal released her new CD, which was highly regarded in the Dutch national press. Initially studying at the Belarus Music Academy in Minsk, she won prizes at international competitions from very early age, beginning in 1990 with the first prize at the International Casale Monferrato Piano Competition (Italy). She was eleven at the time. The next important achievement in the early stages of her career was at the age of thirteen, when she won prizes at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig (Germany 1992).

In the course of time, she won many more prizes at various international piano competions in Europe and the United States, and had a busy schedule giving solo-recitals and concerts with orchestras in many European countries and Russia. At various stages in her academic studies, she received awards from Unesco/New Names (Moscow), the Spivakov Foundation (Moscow), the Yuri Egorov Foundation (Amsterdam) and the Yamaha Music Foundation Europe. Furthermore, she had the privilege of working with conductors such as Joachim Simon, Angel Shurev, Moshe Atzmon, Lygia O'Riordan, Marc Russell-Smith, Jacob Traub and Hans Leenders. In 1999, Hanna Shybayeva came to The Netherlands in order to conclude her academic studies with Naum Grubert at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Her first CD was released in 2000, and was broadcast in its entirety on Dutch Radio-4 (classical). Since then, she has given numerous recitals, performed with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and was invited to perform at the International Music Fair (Frankfurt, 2003). In between, she followed masterclasses with such eminent mentors as Dimitri Bashkirov, John O'Connor, Eugen Indjiç, Murray Perahia, Igor Roma and Emanuel Ax.

In August 2004 and 2005, Hanna performed at the Prinsengracht Concert & Festival in Amsterdam, an annual classical-music event which is broadcast on Dutch national TV and radio, and her various recordings are regularly broadcast on Dutch classical radio-stations. In addition to her solo-recitals and concerts, Hanna also forms a piano-duo with the pianist Yevgeni Sinaiski, with whom she performs both in Holland and abroad. (See: Repertoire). In 2004, Hanna Shybayeva has been awarded a grant from the prestigeous Prins Bernhard Cultural Foundation in The Netherlands, and in June 2005, she graduated cum laude as Master of Music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with a mark 10 plus distinction.
