When Hang Time 􀃥rst got together in early 2012 and started writing songs, they didn’t want to be restricted by any speci􀃥c genre or sound. Instead, they wanted to create their own sound that paid homage to the decades of music that have in􀃽uenced them. From their parents’ Kinks and Beatles records, to the 80’s and 90’s cassettes of their youth, Hang Time incorporates highlights from the past few decades in their songwriting. Hang Time’s debut, self-titled album, set to be released in January 2013, combines classic four-piece band instrumentation with heavy synth and keyboard nodding to disco, space exploration, video games, and garage rock. From the Japanese alarm clock ringing in the album’s opening track, Awesome/Rad, to the UFO cockpit sounds of Bubble Bath, to the gadgets and gizmos in Mystery, Hang Time weaves you through familiar sights and sounds of decades past with a fresh, updated vibe. Along with the catchy, up-beat melodies, instrumentation, and lyrics, Hang Time creates a 􀃽ashback from the album art and visuals playing at their shows. Clips of old commercials, video games, movies, and cartoons blend into a dizzy array of nostalgia.

Hang Time has played local shows throughout the year in their hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah and have opened for acts such as Icky Blossoms, Tilly & The Wall, The Octopus Project, and Washed Out.
