The Hamsters are a Bluesy, Americana and Rock trio formed in England in 1987. They're often thought of as the hardest-working band in the country and performed their 4000th gig in July 2008. Although primarily 'themselves', they are regarded as the UK's leading interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix, and also ZZ Top. (They don't dress up for it either - or any of that nonsense - they just play the songs...) Although primarily 'themselves', they are regarded as the UK's leading interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix, and also ZZ Top. (They don't dress up for it either - or any of that nonsense - they just play the songs...) They didn't take themselves seriously at the beginning and they don't take themselves too seriously now, with a popular part of their regular act involving self-deprecating humour. Even the band's name came from the pseudonym the Sex Pistols used, after they were banned from playing in most towns following the 'Bill Grundy' incident.
