HDJ Tom

HDJ Tom (aka HardDiskJockey Tom, born Tamás Szőke) is an underground electronic artist from Hungary. In the middle 90's he formed a band called The Golden Army with his friend Golden Sztaniol on vocals. After releasing two LPs (Egomachine /2000/, Masters /2001/) the band had several problems with their record company (UCMG/Ugar) and in 2002 they decided to take a break, while they were making their third album (which was never released nor finished). The official reason of the pause was 'being tired of not been taken serious by the record company'. HDJ Tom continued working on his own projects that were not suitable for The Golden Army project, and after lots of attempts he finally succeeded in finding a distributor for his debut solo LP 'Taste' (Inflatabl Labl, november 2003).

The IDM masterpiece was a positive shock for the electronic underground and for those who thought that the so-called 'experimental glitchpop' had become totally useless. The album contains about 38 megatons of noise, distorted samples, exciting drum parts and liver-swinging subbasses. Strongly recommended to the sampler-heroes who think they already know everything about electronica. They're wrong. In 2005, HDJ Tom self-released his second album 'True or False?'.
