Groove Patriots are a rock band based in New Zealand, consisting of Jimi Knewstubb (lead guitar), Zac Bekket-Knight (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Alex Parsons (drums, congas, percussion) and Nicholas Clutterbuck (bass guitar, synth). The band formed in the Christmas of 2005, and since then the band has morphed into a whole lot. Starting off as a threesome (Alex, Nicholas and Dove - lead guitar), the band then confronted Chester Travis (http://www.myspace.com/chestertravis) to fulfil the position of front-man, but after a month Chester left of his own accord. The band then asked Mr.

Bekket-Knight to front and after the first practice his influence could already be felt, with Never Ever Cheat well along the way. Next, the band decided to take to the stage and support Cold Comfort, Strange Brew and Tweak in September 2006. Directly after this, Dove left the band. After a few months of no progress, the idea of asking Jimi came up, and shortly the band was back in full swing, taking to the stage once again in December 2006 and with the live début of The Sound.

After the excitement of Christmas and the festive season had died down, the (very drunken) decision to make an album was raised, and after all deciding that it was a wonderfully spectacular idea, the band went into a phase of intense writing an practising. These sessions were ones in which the songs Fridge, 42, Skyline of Towel and Free Your Mind originated from. The band then took a number of weeks off and is now once again concentrating on recording demos and finalising the tracks not yet to be demoed (Magrathean Blues, Solar Sail, Paranoid? and Start Panicking) and an electronic presence started coming through in the music. The upcoming album, now titled Don't Panic, "will be released soon, we promise!" If you are interested in some demos please visit http://www.groovepatriots.co.nr/ to download some – or if you are that way inclined, visit http://www.myspace.com/groovepatriots, where Skyline of Towel and Open Your Mind (both instrumental demos) are available for listen only.
