Side project of Lee Kizer (of Spinoza) and Kurt Lightner (of Kurt Lightner & the jim & jane dandies). In 1989 while at Wheaton College, Kurt Lightner and Lee Kizer, with Dan Rauter and Tom DeVries, formed the band Throat Culture as a response to the burgeoning music scene at the school. Despite being known as "the worst band" on campus, the group drew large crowds because of the on-stage infighting between the members. Rauter, who went on to form Black Cherry Soda, wanted the group to be a serious unit, while Lightner pushed for a more performance art style, bordering on comedic.

In the ashes of Throat Culture, Rauter formed Black Cherry Soda and Lee Kizer formed Spinoza with Reid Maclean. Lightner went solo under the name Kurt Lightner & the jim & jane dandies, and Tom DeVries dropped the music scene for chiropractic school. In 2002, Kizer and Lightner got together again after years of saying "dude, we NEED to do something". With Kizer writing the music and Lightner the lyrics in an apartment in New York city, the two churned out 35 sketched songs.

Notable among them is "Futon" which was featured on the Swedish Radio P3 show DEMO. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
