Goupil

Goupil is a home-grown electro poprock band from Switzerland. Goupil was created in 2003 by Renaud Jaccard (keyboards and sounds), Aris Xanthos (guitar and effects), David Di Lorenzo (Bass), and Yves Sonnay (drums). Yves Sonnay was replaced by Hugues Jaccard, Renaud's brother, in 2008. Goupil's music is a blend of poprock melodies with layers of electronic sounds and a touch of 80's spirit. Their influences include classic pop and rock bands such as Pink Floyd or The Police, post-rock bands such as Mono or Explosions in the Sky (David Di Lorenzo plays the bass in The Evpatoria Report, by the way), Radiohead-like bands such as Radiohead, and many more (the Notwist, Console, Slut, Boards of Canada, and so on). Their first album, open source, was released in 2009. It has the particularity of being distributed only and entirely on the web (so far).

It is available for free download on Goupil's website and a couple of locations on the Internet. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
