"Peter Lidén and Jens Löwius used to share a small apartment in Lund around 1997, to be honest, Peter rented Jens wardrobe. (A small amount of money was involved.) A late night when they watched the great movie "Psychout" with Jack Nicholson among others, they had a vision. One of the characters had made a painting where you could spot the words: "God Grows His Own" They both agreed rapidly that this must be the best band name ever, especially if you were going to play hard/groovy/psychedelic rock. One of the characters had made a painting where you could spot the words: "God Grows His Own" They both agreed rapidly that this must be the best band name ever, especially if you were going to play hard/groovy/psychedelic rock. A week later they asked their good friends Martin Johansson and Johan Hellsten what they thought about the idea of forming a great band called "God Grows His Own".

A few days later they wrote "Papilla Fugossa" and "Supersparrow", both featured on the selftitled debut 10"(7" Layer Recordings) A strange person with baldhead and big glasses used to appear on every show since it all started. He called himself Cinnamon Ed and brought his film gear to the shows. It contained everything from old kung fu movies to sleazy black seduction. The live show was filled with excitement, old super 8 movies, computerized psychedelic lightshows etc." Read more on Last.fm.
