Girlush Figure

Girlush Figure was a riot grrrl/punk band from Richmond, Virginia. They released two albums, Target You (DIY) and Rotten To The Core (on Rodent Popsicle), before disbanding in 2003. The beginning of Girlush Figure took place at a Lunachicks show at the old Twisters on Grace Street. That night, Squeaky (real name: Dawn) was covered in bursting blisters---the result of sun poisoning---but was determined to see the show.

She looked bad enough that the girl standing next to her asked what was wrong with her back. After talking for a few minutes, Squeaky found out that the girl (Colleen, AKA Pigpen) played bass, and the two were jamming together by the following week. Sticklet (real name: Laura), a friend of Squeaky's sister, joined the group after the original drummer (Donna) left. About the names: Sticklet's was a split-minute decision upon entering the band. Dawn was nicknamed Squeaky on her freshman year of high school.

"I wore a lot of vinyl," she explains. Pigpen got her moniker from an ex of Squeaky's. "He thought I had poor hygiene habits. It's not true." After Girlush Figure, Squeaky became the guitarist/vocalist of Fabulous Disaster, who also recently split up in 2007.

Rita Mae and Sami were in Dead Celebrity Crush (which I assume is now defunct, as well, since I can't find any information on the band). Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
