Giles was born in Berkshire. He has been singing since the age of six, when he joined St. James Choir in Hampton, Middlesex, he quickly became Head Choirboy due to his unique voice, and his ability to maintain a “pitch perfect” voice. Between the ages of six and sixteen Giles was active as a choirboy with both St James’ Choir and the John Paul Choir which was based in Richmond Surrey. Whilst with the John Paul Choir, Giles sang at Westminster Cathedral. Giles was educated in Public School, and had the opportunity to hone his performing skills whilst there, performing amongst other things, operettas by Gilbert and Sullivan. At the age of sixteen, Giles’ voice broke, which meant he was unable to continue singing as a chorister, so he began to concentrate more on honing his singing abilities in mainstream music. At the age of 19, Giles began presenting Karaoke nights, which became very popular in West London, and he began to be asked to perform as a solo singer at private functions. Giles began performing as a solo singer at the age of 20, and has played to audiences in places as diverse as: •London •Dublin •Istanbul •Dubai •Brussels •Paris •Bucharest Giles had a “following” at this time, and was able to fill a club with people who would turn up just to hear him singing. This, ultimately, was part of the cause of the attack that left Giles in hospital in 1998, fighting for his life, having suffered severe head injuries, which, as a result caused a severe brain haemorrhage. It took Giles three years to recover from his injuries after the attack, and he was unable to sing during this time. However, in 2001, Giles began to perform again, and immediately began performing gigs all over West London, and also visited Ireland once again.

He is still performing regularly today. Giles is very passionate about singing, and although he is not a songwriter, is happy to sing just about anything. He says that he feels today’s music has lost its passion, and there are too many singers out there who sound devoid of emotion. “I just want to put the passion back into music” he says, “You have to really feel the emotion in the song, and then let it come out when you sing, and that’s exactly what I aim for when I sing”. Giles is influenced by a wide range of artists and bands, but says that there is no single artist who has seriously influenced his voice: “That’s all me” he says, and he does have a very distinctive voice. He did however, list his influences: •Guns N’ Roses (“they really influenced me when I was growing up”) •Bob Marley •Faith No More •The Commitments •Sinatra Giles has the ability to sing in a wide range of musical styles, from swing to rock, he can turn his voice to most genres, and enjoys entertaining his audience.

He has put his own spin on many different songs, which many people who hear him sing prefer to the original recording. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
