John Gignoux’s contemporary compositions are an eclectic mix of unique melodies and thought provoking lyrics. His musical journey has spanned 30 years, from playing guitar, piano and songwriting to recording in his studio. Although influenced by bands of the 1960’s, Gignoux was inspired by the songwriters of the 1970’s. Gignoux’s first release, “the Broadway Boys” was favorably reviewed in Keyboard Magazine while Progressive Music Encyclopedia (PME.com) proclaimed: “California Genius undiscovered, AOR/progressive one-man-show, reminds me of Todd Rundgren…..he’s got a wicked sense of humor……reminds me of Eno and Sparks collaborating on a van Dyke Parks record.” The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Committee placed Gignoux on the Official Ballot for the 2007 Grammy Awards in the categories of Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his composition, “The Landing” from his album “Dining At Horizons”.
