Nottingham, United Kingdom (2009 – present) Ghosts Wear Clothes are a British electronica/post-rock band consisting of James Neep (keyboards, electric guitar, bass, samples), Iain Anderson (electric guitar, bass guitar) and Wain Evans (bass guitar, electric guitar, samples). They nervously played their debut show in July 2009 having only formed in their current incarnation one month earlier. However they quickly made a name for themselves on the live music scene in Nottingham for their intense performances and relentless gigging schedule. During this period the band recorded their debut EP, There Are Trees Beneath These Walls, in their home studio and released and distributed it for free to all of their fans in the winter of 2009. In late 2010, Ghosts Wear Clothes decided to take some time off from live play to focus on the writing and recording of their second EP.

Recording sessions began in Nottingham’s prestigious Confetti Studios at the start of 2011, the project quickly expanding in scope to become a full length album. This album proved to be a far more difficult birth than had been anticipated so, with a heavy heart, they decided to start from scratch and return to their home studio to write, record and produce the album now known as Threads. Being keen observers of current affairs and inspired by the on-going global social unrest, as well as the personal frustration they experienced during earlier recording sessions, the band set about to write and record the album simultaneously. They believed this captured the essence of the moment, a completely different way of working from their earlier pre-rehearsed recording sessions.

The band felt that this way of working produced a far more emotionally honest type of music. This belief seems to have been vindicated when shortly after the September 2011 release of the album’s first, self-produced music video, Stay Indoors and Watch the Buildings Burn, it struck a chord amongst protestors in countries around the world, notably in Greece and Egypt. It was due to this sudden popularity that the band decided to release the track as a digital download single in aid of Amnesty International. After the release of Threads in April 2012, which sold copies in 5 separate countries within 2 hours of release with no signs of slowing down, the band has since returned to the rehearsal studio to prepare for upcoming live shows in summer 2012, as well as starting work on a number of studio projects, including a follow up EP and album.
