Genus Pro is a balanced blend of three unique and original emcees, Metric (Matt Sunderland), Marv Ellis (Garrick Bushek), and Elea’zar (Aaron Noble), who have been playing shows and consistantly headlining throughout the Northwest region since the year 2001. Opening for the likes of KRS ONE, The Living Legends, Chuck D, Mr. Lif, Hieruspecs, Crown CIty Rockers, Souls of Mischief, and Atmosphere among others, these emcees/producers along with their DJ C4 (Conrad Russel), have focused on delivering one of the most eclectic live shows around. It’s concious, upbeat, and progressive, with top notch cutting edge production, and rapid fire on the fly vocal creativity that defines their spot in the entire hip hop movement. Genus Pro has been following it’s mission statement from the beginning, delivering music which origins lie heavily in hip hop, but conciously walk the fine line between commercial production, and the open minded voice of the Northwest Underground Movement. Their first release entitled “Grow”, was a huge success for the group.

Teamed with the Corbin Brothers of The Raging Family, “Grow” became and instant underground classic. Inspired by the Pacific Northwest, the album contained a wide range of progressive hip hop ideas and styles. The synthesis of upbeat concious demeanor and groundbreaking production techniques created a strong debut album. This initial pressing sold out of stores and left fans and newcomers hungry for more. Now, the brand new self-produced sophmore album entitled “Extracts” has arrived, with special guest appearances by world renowned musicians such as RB Lindsay the Third on harmonica and guitar, Tre Hardson formerly of Pharcyde, Aesop of the Living Legends, as well as up and coming artist Lafa Taylor, the legendary DJ FREE, and one of the Northwest’s true pioneer emcees Michael Kay.

The new material will be supported by heavy touring and intelligent promotional ideas, such as a real herbal extract named after the group and the movement. Custom-made by the Yellow Emperor, this extract was formulated to embody the aura of the Genus Pro, and their live show appeal. It’s ingredients heighten your awareness and give you the energy, focus, and stamina you need to take life head on, just like the music. Genus Pro has been leading the way as far as progressive hip hop is concerned. Each member is a devoted beat maker and song writer.

Their production is all done in-house, from flyers, to audio and video work. The entire crew lives together and makes new material weekly. The goal is to represent their unique region by sharing their life experiences through their music. Adding this work ethic to already mind blowing live shows, is the future for Genus Pro.
