UK born, New York resident, singer and song writer Gary Burton (the 'Booey' is to avoid confusion with the jazz vibraphone player of the same name) was a late developer when he came to record his album 'Shadows and Life'. Indeed, a lifetime of events go to make up the lyrical content with emotions being tackled head-on. At times sad, at times hopeful this collection offers a reflection of a life lived both in and out of the shadows. Produced by Michael Gilboe in his New York studio and employing several local musicians, the songs reflect a personal journey of love, loss, despair, hope and happiness re-found.

Gary calls the music 'grown-up pop' and comparisons have been made with George Michael, Simply Red and Everything But The Girl. He also sites influences as varied as Todd Rundgren, Squeeze, Danny Wilson, Rufus Wainwright and Abba! Musicians featured on the tracks are Michael Gilboe; arrangements, keys and backing vox, Dave Acker; guitars, Alison Siedner; cello, Mike McInnis; sax/flute, Vinny Sperrazza; drums. Gary is also a radio DJ and has worked for both the BBC in the UK and WNYC in New York. Read more on Last.fm.
