Garden Of Snakes is a darkwave/gothic/folk band from Yerevan. Armenia. Their sound varies from sinister doom to more lively but still mystery-filled progressive songs. Garden Of Snakes was founded as an alternative rock band in 1997 by two schoolmates - 11-years-old Bayandur Pogosyan (vocal, drums) and 12-years-old Agasi Gasparyan (guitar, vocals, bass) under the name of "Ethereal Agony". Later the name of the band was changed to "Eternal", after gothic influence first struck Bayandur. The band counts three periods to this day: 1) The alternative rock period.

From the day of founding to the first disbanding in 2001, these two enthusiasts were writing the songs that would put foundation to the Garden Of Snakes sound- "Remember" (their first song ever), "Angel Love", "Stop" (which later became "A Grave for Two"), "The Song of this Fall". Due to lack of public interst in their music, finishing school the band split up in 2001. Bands like Lifehouse, Evanescense, HiM are sighted as main influences for this period. 2) The hardcore death-metal period. Passing through a period of deep depression and drug abuse, in 2002, Bayandur decided to continue the band he gave up a year ago.

Alone and unaided, having become hostile and agressive to everyone and everything, whe wrote heavy, yet philosophical and depressive music, reflecting his own personality changes, from answer-seeking christian songs like "A Prayer" to scream-outs like "Craze", "Fading Away". The main influences for this period were In Flames, Slipknot, etc. 3) The gothic period. In 2003, "screaming his pain out", Bayandur decided to return to his classical music origins. Having no musical training, he started to write his music by ear.

By that time he had already met Vladimir "Mayer" Melikyan, who was founding Sworn by then. These two metalheads were heavy influences for each other through that period, composing and cooperating. By that time, Bayandur changed the band name to "Garden Of Snakes". The second pand member- Vardan Harutyunyan, a Yerevan Conservatory student, appeared in 2005.

The recordings of Garden Of Snakes debut album- "Last Flower this Spring" had already started by then. A great guitar enthusiast - Vahe Hovhannisyan started playing guitar for the band.Next year, Bayandur's girlfriend- Mariam Papoyan joined on vocal/guitar. The band got a drummer in 2007- Butcher. At that point, when all seemed going as good as it could, everything collapsed once Mariam and Butcher quit, citing "personal differences".

The band got a new female vocalist the same year - Spygirl, a trained and skilled musician, appeared, giving new breath to the band. Later in 2008 Garden Of Snakes found a second female vocal- Tigranuhi Margaryan and a harper- Sona, thus having a solid acoustic line-up, ready to perform on the stage. Still lacking instrumental and personal input from bandmembers, as well as any public recognition, Bayandur disbanded Garden Of Snakes in 2009 and reformed it as a one-man band. Garden Of Snakes has recorded two LP demos and two EP-s to this date, which are: Last Flower this Spring [Pre-Release Instrumental Demo] 2007 Breathing Underwater [Pre-Release Instrumental Demo] 2008 White Is the Color of Weeping EP 2008 Garden Of Snakes EP 2009 Read more on Last.fm.
