Over the next few years, Cla$$’s style of poetry became more developed as he was influenced by different artists - Bone Thugs and Harmony, Biggie, Jay-Z, Tupac, Method Man, Cannibus and Nas just to name a few. “I love the musicology of their style of rap and the different type of musical influences in their music including Reggae”, he says referring to Bone Thugs. As Cla$$ got older, his passion for lyrical sound became more and more insatiable. He listened to Snoop’s Doggystyle and enjoyed the rhymes, however not knowing exactly what the lyrics were saying.
He listened to analytical techniques of Nas and tried to infuse both methods into his poetry which, at this time, he began to rap. As he got older, Cla$$ was influenced by more than just music. While attending Central High School Cla$$ found himself getting caught up in the hype. Rap star, Cassidy had just left Central and started gaining popularity.
Cla$$ noted Cassidy’s strong battle style. There was a lot of excitement around the school with respect to battling and recognition. Unfortunately, it took a toll on Cla$$. He started skipping school and his grades dropped.
Mom decided Cla$$ needed more guidance so she put him in Roman Catholic High School. Once back on the right track, Cla$$ flourished at Roman Catholic. He became a part of the schools diverse culture and found that he and the guys from school formed what they considered a brotherhood. He stayed focused, buckled down, and graduated 17th in his class.
Cla$$ got accepted to and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA. While there he met and became friends with Terell Thomas a.k.a. Denerio Geez and Terrence Clark a.k.a. T-Doe Ralley.
The three of them recorded two mixtapes. Cla$$ laughs as he remembered working together for over a year on a Dell computer with a tiny mic to complete this CD just to show friends and family that he had skills. After his first year at IUP, Cla$$’s mother had to move to Denver, Colorado so he had to move back to Philly in order to help his younger sister and aunt. Once his mom speculated making another move to Delaware, Cla$$ left school altogether.
Cla$$ continued with his music, recording a mixtape at “Spotlight Recording Studios”. There he met and befriended owners Donald Pinkney and Kelly Harmon. Three years have passed since the beginning of his journey at Spotlight. G-Cla$$ continues to record in the studio and on demand on the street.
