Future Funk Collective

When people consolidate their resources and work together, they can achieve anything. The Future Funk Collective represents community. In recorded form, it is a gathering of artists who, when joined together, create songs which are grander than the sum of their parts. In live form, the FFC show reflects this community spirit by presenting a variety of musical styles and a rotating lineup of musicians on each tour. Our first album, the self titled Future Funk Collective, will be released in late January, 2006, by Polyvibe Records. Read more on Last.fm

The album is a hybrid between hip hop, electronic music, and funk…sort of. In reality, it is so much more. It is the essense of a community, baked into each note, each beat, each ryhme.

The Future Funk Collective will be touring across the US this spring with a funky cast of charachters, forming a variety show of sorts, featuring hip hop (with a live funk band behind the emcees), electronic music, and a live band performing funk, drum and bass, free jazz, dub, and any other groove the band channels down from the funky ether. It is our hope that by combining a variety of musical styles at one party, we hope to bridge the gaps between the disparate communities of musical and artistic people. By bringing a large amount of artistic groups together in one place, we seek to allow each scene inspire the next and provide a platform for the cross-pollination of ideas. No artist is an island, and so much more can be accomplished when we all work together.

The Future Funk Collective seeks out thriving artistic communities in every town, and encourage visual artists, freestyle rappers, break dancers, apolitical counterculture and grassroots groups, local bands, audiophiles and music collectors to join us at our events and on our albums. We strive to build connections between communities in different cities, to facilitate every artist’s quest to bring their music to more people. Each participant, embodies one collective ideal that empowers the Future Funk Collective to spread the gospel of funk wherever it goes. Read more on Last.fm.
