Briggs, Hook & Mani, the core trio, appeared in all promotional photographs / interviews. The band had officially split on 10th September 2010 after numerous personal attacks against Peter Hook were written by Mani via his Twitter account on the previous day. Mani has since apologised for his remark, stating that his comments were "out of character" and that it was a "venomous, spiteful reaction to a lot of things that are going on in my life right now and I chose to vent my frustrations and anger at one of my true friends in this filthy business, and ventured into territory which was none of my concern". Peter accepted Mani's apology, saying "Mani is a great friend of mine and he always will be. I have the utmost respect for him as a person and musician.

He released one album (in 1998) under the name Freebass, "Ultra-violet impact", before starting to call himself Freekbass. Freebass/Freekbass played and collaborated, among others, with the following bands and artists: Bootsy Collins, Buckethead, SHAG (co-founded by Freebass/Freekbass) and Sleep Theatre c) After a twelve-year retirement from Duran Duran and the music industry in general, drummer Roger Taylor formed Freebass. Freebass performed a few live gigs in Birmingham, England, and recorded a handful of songs, some of which appeared on their only single Love Is Like Oxygen, a song originally made famous by The Sweet. The band dissolved after only nine months, even though their single spent some time in the top ten of the UK Dance Chart.
