FOWLS Hometown: Rochester, NY MEMBERS: Vadim Ovcharov (guitar, vocals); Ruben Vazquez (guitar, vocals); Aleksandar Nikolovski (bass); Ricardo Vazquez (drums) BAND HISTORY: Vadim, Ruben and Aleks formed Fowls in March 2011 with the intention of creating diverse and interesting music through layered compositions, each instrument bringing its own texture to the mix. They later introduced Ricardo, who played his first show with the group in May 2013. The band’s debut album “Into the Wild” was written over a two-year period, eventually forming a structure of its own with flow and feeling. It’s an album about growing and persevering through all aspects of life.

“...As much as we want to be independent,” Ruben writes, “we need people there to motivate and help us.” Fowls went into More Sound studio (Syracuse, NY) in August and September of 2013 and recorded “Into the Wild” (bettyElm Records) in just three days. www.facebook.com/fowlsmusic www.bettyelmrecords.com LIVE REVIEW “Fowls produced…reverb-soaked, calypso-esque indie rock, which at times sounded very akin to Vampire Weekend. The two vocalist/guitarists traded math-rock riffs and control of the microphone, but when it clicked on the distortion, and dropped into heavier chord progressions, the songs seemed to have a little more meat.” - David Yockel, Jr., City Newspaper (Aug 13, 2013) INFLUENCES: Maps & Atlases, Say Anything, Dear and the Headlights, Wild Beasts, Pretty Girls Make Graves FOR FANS OF: the above plus Two Door Cinema Club, Minus the Bear, Vampire Weekend Read more on Last.fm.
