For Those Who Know

FTWK was formed in Austin, TX in 2003 with Stephen Hablinski on vocals and guitar, Rick Vehslage on guitar, James Vehslage on drums and Alan Barrett on bass. Channeling the spirits of post punk rock and pure psychedelic shoegaze pop, For Those Who Know brings forth a hypnotic blend of beautiful songwriting with a love for digital/analog oblivion. Comparisons have been made to the Jesus and Mary Chain, New Order, and Sonic Youth. The band recorded part of their debut EP in October of 2004 with engineer Erik Wofford (The Black Angels, Voxtrot, Octopus Project, Snowden, etc.) at Cacophony Recorders and finished the recordings in the following month at thier home studio, Two Beds and a Bath Recording Studio, with guitarist, Richard Vehslage, doing the engineering.

In the spring of 2005, the self-titled EP was released on the Texas label, Christmas Mountains Records. Since it's release, FTWK have established themselves as one of the few looming shoegaze bands still on the scene in Texas, which brought attention to them from the press, radio, and dozens of online music communities. The group’s energetic tie-clad live show has helped them to build upon an ever-growing fan base, and their reputation has allowed them to share the stage with such acts as the Black Angels, Helio Sequence, Heartless Bastards, Psychic Ills, and Single Frame. Now with Elliott Frazier playing bass, FTWK is recording their sophomore album, which has already perked up the ears of many national and international record labels.

They are also embarking on a tour of the US, while working with the Austin media collective, Super! Alright!, on making a music video. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
