‘…a sound which is diverse, dynamic and at times, well, odd.’ Emma Gibson - City News (Canberra) Fire on the Hill are a Canberra based five piece rock band with a sound that has been described as passionate, lyrical and sonically expansive. Most of the band’s current material has been crafted by lead vocalist and guitarist Aaron Peacey, who possesses a commanding ability to weave lingering melody, mood, feeling and classic innovation into his own distinct style. Somehwat of a local institution, Fire On The Hill has been around in one form or another since about 2004. As a collective of experienced working musicians, the members draw influence from a range styles that blur the lines between genres such as rock, folk, reggae, & soul to form a sound that in recent time has been likened to the 1970’s American West Coast. Fire on the Hill live shows have presence and authenticity. The subtlety of communication amongst the band is a joy to watch as the songs build and release, or take a split second improvised turn.

The rhythm section features Kay Chinnery (drums) and Matthew Nightingale (bass). The two have a chemistry that makes a perfect foundation for Aaron's Peacey, Lachlan Coventry and Fiete Geir's very distinctive brand of texturous and colourful interweaving guitar styles. Having released 3 albums so far, the group are releasing another live album with DVD footage - "Live In Circle City", and a previously recorded studio album "Tell Melbourne To Relax" in late 2011. Some of Fire On The Hill’s past noteworthy achievements: • Showcase artist at the National Folk Alliance Convention 2005 • Played as part of the Brunswick Music Festival (support act for Sophie Koh), Melbourne, April 2006 • Played at Canberra Fringe (National Multicultural Festival) 2005 & 2006 • Support act for touring Canadian group Nine-Mile, ANU bar, May 2006 Read more on Last.fm.
