All living and working on various musical projects in Portland, Oregon, the three set out to record an album of basement studio collaborations while calling on the vocal/lyrical assistance of Joe Haege (31 Knots and Tu Fawning) and writer/songwriter Adam Gnade of Asthmatic Kitty. Having played together under various monikers, the "Folks" trio decided to create a project of their own. The result is the first collection of 3 songs called "Your Friends Will Carry Home".
Recorded as a loose session at Type Foundry Recording, Seim and Askew constructed the tracks at their various home recording burrows with final mixing by Askew done at Tucker Martine's basement studio Flora. Lastly, final guitar added to "Your Friends" was contributed by Grandaddy's Jim Fairchild. The debut 7" titled "Your Friends Will Carry You Home" relies heavily on exactly that - friends. The goal, according to Seim, is to focus on a new project that involves all sorts of collaborators contributing to songs written by core Faux Hoax members. Intended to be experimental and unique, Faux Hoax will surely leave listeners surprised.
