Fashionable Living Death

Fashionable Living Death was a mystery name to me for some time, until recently, when a friend of the singer Linda Lunus, contacted me and gave me her contact details. I knew that Alison Goldfrapp had been involved in her fledgling Goth / Punk days (this was actually the precursor of the band, charmingly titled Afterbirth), but didn't know pretty much anything : now all is revealed .... I knew that Alison Goldfrapp had been involved in her fledgling Goth / Punk days (this was actually the precursor of the band, charmingly titled Afterbirth), but didn't know pretty much anything : now all is revealed .... The band was active in the Alton area of the UK, between the years 1981 and 1990, and crossed the bridge between early Goth / positive punk, noise and good anarcho punk, with a hefty snifter of polemic and dada a la Cravats. Their music is hard to pin down, but they had a heavy live reputation, and were in terms of intensity frequently compared to The Birthday Party in that arena, but this is way off in terms of describing their actual music. Think around the edges of Cravats, early Siouxsie and The Banshees / Rubella Ballet, AC Temple and The Very Things ... sort of. The classic line up (minus 'lots of irrelevant bassists') was : Linda Lunus - Vocals (originally keyboards) Phil Hutchings - Guitar Gavin Smith - Bass Glen Strudwick - Drums. http://avicusuk.blogspot.com/2009/09/fashionable-living-death-fld_29.html Read more on Last.fm.
