As a teenager in the 90’s, he was influenced by many different music genres, including R&B and Hip Hop. His guitar had to move to the back ground for now, but that didn’t stop him from his musical creations. Many songs he wrote at this stage, were inspired by 2-PAC and Snoop Doggy Dog. It was also around this time when Blues became a very big interest in his life.
As a young boy, Fabian was surrounded by world music, so blues fit right in there. After his Hip Hop lust died down a little bit, blues became his choice of music to play and listen to so he dusted his guitar off. He learned Blues initially simply by listening and imitating some of the greatest Blues Legends. He was fortunate to be surrounded by friends who shared the same passion and they began Jam sessions, just for fun.
His influences allowed him to merge Blues and Pop together. As more musicians joined the fun filled jam sessions in 2003 a Bluespop Band named “Out of the Blue” was formed. Music was a big part of his life at this point, so besides his band, he also worked on his solo projects. The more time he invested in his solo projects, the more time it demanded, until early 2010 he made the decision to leave “Out of the Blue”.
In his solo career, he could now really focus on his passion of fusing different world influences and translate them in his own songs. This included Blues, Pop, Hip Hop and Ballad. His talent was shown by reaching the finals of different competitions, including the Rotterdam open Mic Contest, Vlaanderen Bokaal, Studilio Award and played at festivals like Zeehelden festival The Hague, Waterpop, Boerol and the Horizontoer. In his search for musicians for the first EP he met Marinka van Aken (vocals) and Ruben Brinkhuis (guitar, violin) in 2009. The chemistry between them was so uplifting and pleasant that they decided to go on stage together and continue in this formation.
2010 proved to be an exciting year for them. Together with Ruben, Fabian wrote the leader tune for the TV show Almere Kiest. Performed with Giovanca as MC on stage on her hit single ‘Drop It’. And had their first CD release in September! Read more on Last.fm.
