There are at least five bands named Extermination: 1) American thrash metal (California) 2) Polish black/death metal 3) American thrash metal (Pennsylvania) 4) Dutch depressive suicidal black metal 5) Swedish death/thrash metal 1) Formed in San Francisco, California, in 1987, the original line-up consisted of Julian "Dumptruck" Miller (bass, also played in Sick Minded), Rob Outlaw (guitars) and MJP(vocals). They were joined by Frank Bobadilla (drums) and Noel Jay (guitars), both from bay area thrash metal band Assassin - released the demo Blitzed Resistance in 1985 - which then later morphed into My Victim (out of the two, only Noel remains a member of My Victim). Frank was replaced by Steve Heuser as the drummer, who remained in the band until 1989 and is a current member of Ulysses Siren. Slade Anderson (currently a member of Mercenary, My Victim and Black Mackerel) replaced Steve, whereas Sven Soderlund (currently in Mercenary and Midnight Chaser, formerly of Hellhunter, Lääz Rockit, Mordred, Heathen [live] and Multiply) replaced Noel Jay.

This line-up recorded and released the demo "The D-Range" in 1989 and also changed their name to Morticious the same year, releasing the tape "Demo II" in 1990. Dan Limerick (also in Sick Minded and Stevie Stiletto) replaced Slade as the drummer. In 1991 they changed their name back to Extermination: Sven left Morticious and Julian, their original bassist, became the band's guitarist. They then recruited Billy Lee as the bassist.

Extermination remained active until 1993. 2) Formed in Strzelno, in 1989, their only release is a demo titled "Official Rehearsal", from 1991. The band's line-up consisted of Maciej (bass, replaced someone known as Jaca), Robert Szczepaniak (drums), Daras (guitars) and Sławek (vocals). 3) Formerly known as Shadowlorde, they were a speed/thrash metal band from Milford, Pennsylvania, formed in 2004. Released the demo "Hellbound" in 2006. The current status of the band is unknown. 4) One-man band formed by M.

aka Misaer (real name: Mees Mertens) in Rotterdam, South Holland. Released the demo "On Dying Grounds..." in 2009, changed name to Förtvivlan in 2010. 5) Halmstad based band made of Linus Carlstedt (vocals and bass), Alex Wood Bäck (guitars) and Hampus Halldén (drums).
